Originally from South Carolina, Mindy continues to enjoy a diverse artistic career as singer, actor, teacher and composer. She received her undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance from Liberty University (1991), and her Master’s Degree (1993) from Winthrop University. The day she received her Master’s Degree she promptly packed up and moved to Orlando, Florida to sing full-time with Walt Disney World’s “Voices of Liberty”. At twenty years old, she had her first professional role as “Adele” (Die Fledermaus) at Roanoke’s Southwest Virginia Opera, under Director Victoria Bond. From there, some of her favorite roles include: Pamina (Southeast Lyric Theatre), Dido (Dido And Aeneas), Fatima (Abu Hassan), Monica (The Medium) and Madam Silverpeel and Madam Goldentrill (The Impressario). She has enjoyed a performance career of many styles including jazz, gospel, and music theatre. While having a full-time performance career in various venues such as Sea World (San Diego), The Holy Land Experience (Orlando), EPCOT (Orlando), and Hyatt Entertainment, she continuously keeps a thriving private vocal studio.
She has taught on the university level for thirteen years (Southestern University, Winthrop University Arts Academy, Seminole College, San Diego Christian College), and on the elementary and middle school level for six years (Westminster-Catawba Academy, Bostonia Elementary, Meridian Elementary, and Charlotte Christian School). Her original musicals were produced in these venues while in San Diego. While teaching in the collegiate setting, she taught voice, music theory, composition and arranging, music theatre studies, acting and directed ensembles in both jazz and classical styles.
Her original compositions have won various awards from Mid-Atlantic Song Competition, The John Lennon Composer Awards, and the Artist For Literacy Competition. Her recording career has led her to perform for the National Association of Music Merchandisers (NAMM) and National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM), as well as jingles for Modu-Kraft Homes, The Commercial Clinic, and Traveler’s Rest Insurance. Her diverse career has allowed to her perform with such artists as James Earl Jones, Marvin Hamlish, and Larnelle Harris.
